Notes Action Group 25/08/2026.

Communication: The group discussed options for raising awareness in the immediate and wider community as greater numbers will strengthen our cause. The following were captured during the meeting.

·      Door to door – A very simple yet effective means of our being able to raise awareness, We discussed the benefits of having a standard fact sheet allowing us to be consistent in our messaging. Action: Prepare a standard fact sheet to be shared with the group.

·      Website, To further increase the reach of our campaign raising awareness and providing a means of contact we discussed standing up a website, Tony discussed this can be done quickly and relatively cheaply. Here we can upload information that we deem helpful to raising awareness, provide a means of contact and to share some of the images of our wonderful greenbelt space. Action: Build one on square space and use it to hold documents, key facts and hold media.

·      Email, This can work in collaboration with the website and the WhatsApp groups providing a means of contact and broadcast distribution for news letters along side the web site.

·      Social Media, another great options for sharing what’s going on around our green belt space such as wildlife images, videos and general news and commentary. Action: We can all use our own social networks to raise awareness.

·      News, we discussed contacting the BBC, local radio and any local newspapers.  The more we can get this story into the public eye the better. You can submit a story to BBC News by emailing yourvoice@bbc.co.uk or by messaging +44 7756 165803 on WhatsApp. Include your contact number if you are willing to speak with a journalist.

·      Freedom of Information Request (FOI), We discussed formulating a letter that contains all of our signatures rather than multiple un-coordinated requests, this is for access to files that have been heavily redacted and we suspect uploaded with links that are known not to work properly.

Environment:

·      Ecology expert… We feel having an expert in this field would really help our cause, Tony has taken the action to reach out to colleagues at the university to request help.

·      Traffic Count – Gary has done some work to examine the volume of traffic.  Action: Gary can you please write up and share.

Timeline:

·      This washout being prepared however despite being promised a copy of the timeline by our local councillor we have not received one. An AI generated one is uploaded at the bottom of this page. This is important as it allows us to be prepared rather than react. Research completed also rejects the advice from the same councillor that was not to object to the environmental impact assessment (EIA), no is exactly the time to object as research into how this timeline works shows that EIA and planning applications are done in parallel and there is no dependancy or required sequencing.

Petition: We discussed establishing one and obtaining signatures, this links into to item on communication and we need the Fact Sheet / FAQ
